As most wedding guests can attest, thoughtful gift-giving is truly an art form. While it might seem easy enough to slip a gift card in the mail, no guest wants their kind gesture to be forgettable.

Feeling a bit stuck on how to break the gifting rut? Curating exquisite gift experiences is our specialty and today we’re sharing a few tidbits of our gifting wisdom. Follow these simple dos and don’ts and you’ll be an A+ guest all wedding season long.

DO: Include Something Thoughtful

While there’s certainly nothing wrong with a cash, gift card, or registry pick, the lack of personalization can often feel a bit flat. Don’t be afraid to pair the standard cash and card with a little something extra to up your gifting game. It can be as simple as a bottle of their favorite bubbly, passes to a local art museum, or a mini gift box filled with beautiful treasures they’ll adore.

DON’T: Forget to Spend an Appropriate Amount

There’s an ever-evolving debate around how much is the “right” amount to spend on a wedding gift. While the dollar amount is very much a personal choice, remember to take into account whether the couple is an acquaintance, co-worker, dear friend or relative. Of course, a closer relationship to the couple should translate to a larger gift budget so remember to consider this factor before you buy.

DO: Purchase a Shower and Wedding Gift

If you’ve been invited to both the bridal shower and wedding, gifting etiquette calls for a separate gift for each occasion. But don’t fret—it’s perfectly acceptable to purchase two smaller gifts, or to keep the shower gift simple and the wedding gift more extravagant

DON’T:Wait Until the Last Minute

Procrastination often hinders creativity, so don’t wait until the final hour to think about your gift. Once the wedding invitation arrives in the mail, mark your calendar as a shopping reminder several weeks before the big day. This will give you time to actually create that thoughtful gifting experience they’ll love.

DO: Consider Shipping

When you’re dressed to the nines and ready to celebrate at cocktail hour, the last thing you want to worry about is lugging around a large gift. Do yourself (and the couple) a favor by shipping your gift directly to their door for the ultimate convenience. Bonus! Each one of our curated wedding gift boxes are available for shipping nationwide with multiple delivery speed options … just in case procrastination gets the best of you.

DON’T: Gift Without a Card

So much excitement goes towards the gift itself, but don’t let the card be an afterthought. Whether it’s silly or sentimental, a personal message goes a long way, which is exactly why we include a handwritten note with each of our boxes.

DO: Put Emphasis on Presentation

We’ll let you in on a little secret—behind every great gift is beautiful presentation.  From the box to the tissue paper to the gift arrangement and the card, your emphasis on aesthetics won’t go unnoticed by the happy couple. Need a little inspiration? Take a peek at our Mr. & Mrs. box as a visual example.

Gorgeous gift giving is the heart behind everything we do at Lauren Ashley Studio because we believe special occasions are worth celebrating in perfect style.
