'Sideshow Chic' Halloween Party Inspiration
As a curator of beauty, I find that each season brings an opportunity for inspiration with a fresh perspective, and Halloween is no exception. Although this dark and spooky season might not feel like the most stylish affair, this year, I set out to plan a celebration that proved otherwise. With a bit of careful planning and willingness to think outside the box, I’m confident this Halloween soirée just might be our most modern, chic and memorable occasion yet.
THE Inspiration
As I considered themes for a costume party, a world circus sideshow immediately came to mind. Adding the perfect balance of whimsy and drama, a sideshow felt perfect for trick-or-treating festivities, and we decided to embrace a fitting “come as you aren’t” mentality.
THE DESIGN
Once our theme was established, I imagined a color palette of blush, rose gold, black and white for a more romantic take on the conventional black and orange. Inspired by this Martha Stewart spread, I added details like black matte dishware, hammered gold flatware, miniature pumpkin place settings, dreamy floral spreads, and dramatic balloon displays for maximum design impact.
THE MENU
Every party deserves a thoughtful menu, and our sideshow party will feature a bounty of circus-inspired eats and sweets.
Miniature corn dogs with assorted dipping sauces
Miniature sliders
Candy apples
Street corn
Fried macaroni & cheese pops
Chicken and waffles
THE SWEETS
Two theme-inspired cakes
Macarons
Chocolate jewels
Cake pops
Cakesicles
Halloween candy from Twirl Cotton Candy
THE ENTERTAINMENT
No sideshow party is complete without an awe-inspiring performance, and I’m taking notes from Patricia of Southern Charm’s finale event. Think stilt walkers, contortionist, fire breathers, and so much more.
I can’t wait to see our party inspiration come to life, and I’m wishing each one of you a Halloween season full of festivities to cherish.
